Male', MALDIVES - The new Technical Director of Football Association of Maldives, Can Vanli has said that his main priority is to develop the youth development program in the Maldives.
Vanli signed a two year contract with the Football Association of Maldives today as the technical director of the governing body of the Maldives football. Vanli had a successful time with VB Sports Club during 2010-2012. He won the league, National Tournament and FA Cup. Vanli, one of the most successful foreign coach in the Maldives also won the 2010-2012 Charity Shield with VB Sports Club and won the best coach award twice.
"My main target is to improve the youth development program in the Maldives and to do this I need to find quality coaches to train the kids. We must improve the quality of the coaches with the latest modules." Vanli said.
He also reiterated that the Maldives is a special country for him and he is happy to be back here.
"Maldives is a special place for me and I am happy to be back home. I am more than happy to help to develop football in this Muslim country. This is not an easy task with huge responsibilities. I had some international experiences and I will work to develop step by step."
President of Football Association of Maldives, Bassam Adeel Jaleel has said that appointing a technical director is a good step forward to develop the game.
"Vanli has a clear picture of the Maldives football and it will help him to make the best decision to develop the game. I am very sure that he can help a lot to develop the game in this country."
