SAFF U18: Maldives wins third place

Kathmandu, NEPAL - Maldives U18 team won the third place of SAFF U18 Championship after beating Bhutan by 1-0 on Sunday.

Maldives faced Bhutan in the group stage, which was ended in a goalless draw. Ibrahim Imran scored the only goal for the Maldives in the 76th minute.

Maldives advanced to the semi final as the runners-up of the group and Bhutan qualified as the winners. In their opening game Maldives drew against hosts, Nepal by 1-1. This is the first time that the Maldives youth team ever managed to get a point in the history of this tournament.

Maldives youth team coach, Mohamed Shazly said his main target is to qualify for the semi final of the tournament.
