SAFF U18: Maldives into the semi for the first time

Kathmandu, NEPAL - Maldives U18 team advanced to the semi final of SAFF U18 Championship for the first time after a goalless draw against Bhutan on Tuesday.

Maldives advanced to the semi final as the runners-up of the group and Bhutan qualified as the winners. In their opening game Maldives drew against hosts, Nepal by 1-1. This is the first time that the Maldives youth team ever managed to get a point in the history of this tournament.

Maldives youth team coach, Mohamed Shazly said his main target is to qualify for the semi final of the tournament.

Maldives will face India or Sri Lanka in the semi final and if India manages to beat Sri Lanka by a margin of 3 goals, then India will face the Maldives.
