Maldives lost their opening game against Bhutan

Hithadhoo, ADDU CITY - Maldives lost their opening game of UEFA ASSIST U15 International Tournament to Bhutan by 2-1 on Saturday.

Bhutan broke the deadlock just six minutes into the game at Hithadhoo Stadium. Jugme Namgyel scored the opener from a header inside the six yard box.

The visitors double lead in the 26th minute from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Bhutan skipper Bikash Pradhan shot it into the top corner of the net.

After the two early goals from Bhutan, Maldives coach Ibrahim Haleem introduced Aiham Hamdhoon to replace Mohamed Thamaam Shahid.

Maldives made two early changes at the beginning of the second half. Ifsaal Najaah and Mohamed Zayaan Ismail were introduced to the game.

Maldives scored their first goal of the game and the tournament after 69 minutes. Maldives skipper Mohamed Khanaan Adam was unmarked inside the box when he received the pass and shot it into the bottom corner of the net to change the score to 2-1.

Maldives will play against Saudi Arabia in their second game on Tuesday.
