Maldives National Team departs to Malaysia

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives National Football Team has departed to Malaysia for a training camp in preparation for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Maldives will play against Philippines and Guam on November 14 and 19 respectively. 

Maldives coach Petar Segrt announced a 27 players squad and Victory's youngster Nahil was unable to travel with the team due to the failure of his release from the club. Victory refused to release the player saying that the player refused to attend their last league game.

Maldivesfootball.com understands that the club did not pay his last four months salary.

Maldives lies on the fourth position of the table with three points from three games. Maldives won their opening game against Guam by 1-0 and lost the second game at home to China by 5-0. Their last game was against Syria, which Syria won by 2-1.

President of Football Association of Maldives, Bassam Adeel Jaleel said to the players that their main focus would be on winning the upcoming two games.

"Our main target should be to win the two upcoming games against Philippines and Guam and it is possible to achieve that."
