It's not our best team says Segrt

Guam - Maldives national team coach Petar Segrt has said that it won't be the Maldives' best team when facing Guam in their opening match of the preliminary qualification for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Maldives will play against Guam on Thursday at 10:30 am (Maldives time) at the Guam Football Association complex.

Segrt said that his team isn't doing very well because of off-pitch issues, and the team that plays on Thursday won't be Maldives' best. He shared a litany of team troubles, including losing midfielder Ibrahim Waheed Hassan, who recently lost five family members in a tragic accident.

" Our  team has a healthy respect for Guam, especially when they play at home."

Hussain Nihan and keeper Hussain Shareef are still in Colombo to obtain Visa and it is very unlikely that they can play against Guam tomorrow. Guam is a very strong opponent, especially dangerous playing at home. He tallied Guam's biggest triumphs of the last few years, remarking on Guam's shutout of Bhutan.
