IOIG 2019: Maldives starts with a defeat

Mauritius - Maldives lost their opening game to Reunion by 4-0 in the ongoing Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) on Thursday.

Reunion score twice in three minutes in the first half in the match played at Auguste Vollaire Stadium.

Maldives missed a good chance to score a goal in the second half, but Naiz's free kick was blocked by Reunion Keeper.

Reunion took advantage of a mistake from goalkeeper Faisal and scored the third and before the final minutes their captain changed the score to 4-0.

Maldives coach Petar Segrt said his team would do their best to win their next two games.

Maldives will play their second game against  Comoros on Saturday at 16:15 hours (Maldives time)
