Male', MALDIVES - Maldives national football team faced difficulties in preparing for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Guam on September 5.
Football Association of Maldives took a break in Dhivehi Premier League to have a training camp in Malaysia ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Guam and China on September 5 and 10 respectively.
Maldives national team needs to obtain a USA Visa to enter Guam and the best way is to get it done in Colombo. However, each member of the team should have an interview for the Visa process.
A reliable source has confirmed to Maldivesfootball.com that the majority of the players Visa interview will be finished on August 28 and 2 players have to wait until September 3 for the interview. Maldives team will travel to Guam on August 30th or 31st as per the schedule.
National team coach Peter Segrt's initial plan was to have a training camp in Malaysia and play few friendly games there but due to the delay in getting Visa, the team will have to stay in Colombo.
Da Grande's Ahmed Ayaaz, Hassan Nazeem from Foakaidhoo and Mohamed Ajufan from TC Sports Club were the players who were new to the national team.
